Funding Criteria

Our Mission
  Project Clear Skies offers funding not as charitable gifts, but as investments in the people of our community. We understand that our success depends on strong and vibrant neighbourhoods, the kind that attract business to our region and travellers to our airport.

Our goal is simple: to improve the National Capital Region by funding projects for those in need.

Our list of funding criteria is simple, too. Project Clear Skies funds proposals from registered charitable organizations for projects.

Funds will be allocated to applicants located within the National Capital Region as defined by the National Capital Commission.

While there is no limit to the amount of funding the Airport Authority can authorize against a single application, commitments will not be made for multi-year funding.

Notwithstanding the criteria and restrictions, the Airport Authority reserves the right to fund or not fund any project for any reason. The Airport Authority also reserves the right to retain funds not dispersed in any year and, at its sole discretion, allocate the funding in future years.

What Project Clear Skies will Fund

Project Clear Skies will only consider proposals for funding of capital projects from registered charitable organizations.

A “registered charitable organization” is defined as an organization that has applied for and received a charitable registration number from the Canada Revenue Agency for tax purposes and can, therefore, issue tax receipts.

A “capital project” is defined as something that is designed to maintain or improve an organization's (or its user's) physical assets.

What Project Clear Skies will not Fund
  Perhaps as important as what Project Clear Skies will fund is what it will not fund. It does not fund:
organizations with dedicated fundraising staff;
organizations with operating budgets in excess of $2 million;
organizations that limit access based on religious affiliation;
political organizations;
sports teams;
sponsorships of any kind;
deficit reduction or operating costs; and
programs or services.
